A woman died this Monday morning in Havana when she was hit by a car driven by a soldier, who allegedly ran a red light in Alamar.
“I don't know the details. Right now at the traffic light on Vía Blanca and Alamar. A FAR car hit someone; “My condolences to family and friends of the deceased,” reported a user of the Facebook group “Bus & Truck Accidents for more experience and fewer victims!”
The victim was described by several users as a woman, around 40 or 50 years old, who was crossing the avenue in the company of her partner. Users who said they witnessed the accident stated that he died instantly due to the brutal impact.
In another publication from the same group it was confirmed that the victim was a woman. “EPD for the lady. My condolences to [the] family members,” expressed the author of the post, sharing an image of the accident scene in which a large police presence was visible.
“I was leaving Alamar to join Vía Blanca around 7 in the morning. It was still somewhat dark and we only felt a big bump and the car braking. My driver told me: he killed her. I couldn't even look at the place anymore because I got very sick. My condolences to all his relatives,” said one of them.
Another confirmed the information about the military vehicle. “They were at the traffic light exit, but I couldn't take a photo because there were more stars there than on a dark, clear, moonless night,” he said, referring to the presence of high-ranking officers at the scene.
“The FAR got the red one. And apparently the deceased is a young person”; “It was a girl who was crossing the street with her husband, she died immediately”; “My dad was at CUPET at the time of the accident. She says the poor husband was screaming that she was dead. My dad saw her before they covered her and says she looked like a girl in her thirties or forties,” other users noted in the comments to the publication.
Some alluded to the high rank of the officer who was traveling in the military vehicle. “The one in the car got the red one; “He is a general,” observed one Internet user. “That accident happened at 7 in the morning. At that time I was passing by. The FAR car took the red one and the woman was crossing. The FAR car hit him hard and hard and the police arrived around 8 in the morning,” said another.
The speed with which traffic officers removed the license plate from the vehicle involved raised suspicions among several users. “I passed by around 10 am and traffic was diverted. They removed the license plate from the car and there were quite a few FAR cars,” said one who claimed to have passed by the site.
“They quickly removed the plate,” said one. “If it was a general, it goes without saying that they are going to protect even the car in which he was traveling. That's why they removed the plate. It is a shame that in a country where it is said there is equality, these sin*** live with so much impunity,” another user speculated.
“My opinion has nothing to do with politics, but F and M sheet metal cars, jeeps, etc. are always flying. Since no one fines them, they make and break. This is an example that they should take to call them to responsibility and if you don't believe me, go down 5th Avenue, Calzada, Paseo, and you will see," warned a user outraged with what she considered a constant in the behavior behind the wheel of the vehicles. drivers of military and police vehicles.
At least three people have lost their lives. in an accident that occurred on the night of March 20 on Fifth Avenue, near the Santa Fe neighborhood, in Havana, when a Lada and two old American trucks collided.
