Thestrong rains this Wednesday causedflooding in the Miami-Dade metropolitan area and closures of some roads in the city of Miami and surrounding areas.
Thefloods affected areas near SR 395 in Miami and forced authorities to activateFlood advisories in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.They also did it in the area near Biscayne Boulevard in the center of the city.
"Showers and thunderstorms now taper off in SoFlo as a weakened front stalls near the Keys. Lingering moisture could be enough for some showers/storms later today. Highs will remain in the low-mid 80s," it warned. Thursday the US Weather Service.
The highest accumulated rainfall on Wednesday was reported in the Miami International Airport area with 1.84 inches and in Lauderdale Lakes with 1.80 inches.
Heavy rain has moved away from the southern Florida coast and is heading to the northwest Bahamas.
TheMiami Police blocked some streets on Wednesday night to prevent drivers from being trapped in flooded areas.
WSVN indicated that there were two flood warnings in Miami-Dade that remained active until late Wednesday night, one affected the area near the Miami International Airport until 11:15 pm and the other was for Miami Beach and Biscayne Bay until 11:45 pm.
Central Broward also maintained a flood warning until 10:45 p.m.
In 2022 also thearrival of the rains left heavy flooding in south Florida especially in Miami. The areas of Downtown and Brickell, the financial center of the city, left unusual images of cars in completely flooded streets at that time.
