A cloud of dust from the Sahara is advancing over the Atlantic Ocean and approaching Cuba and Florida, which could increase heat and decrease the chances of rain.

The Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) warned this Wednesday of the phenomenon that is heading towards the Caribbean island.

"A new cloud of dust from the Sahara is advancing over the Atlantic and approaching the Caribbean. This will increase the usual concentrations of Saharan dust over Cuba, which will cause a new decrease in rains starting on Friday and will maintain the feeling of very heat," INSMET wrote.

Previous warnings from meteorological experts have indicated that high temperatures and wind direction in North Africa favor the movement of these dust clouds to other regions of the planet.

This dust can causeair quality problems in the regions where it reaches, affecting people with respiratory conditions such as asthma. On the other hand, it can have an impact on the climate, as the particles can reflect sunlight and therefore influence temperatures and weather patterns.

However, the presence of this dust cloud also has positive aspects, since the associated dryness reduces the humidity in the air, whichreduces the chances of rain and also reduces the probability of tropical storms or hurricanes forming in the Caribbean.
