Four Cubans arrested for simulating a car accident in Hialeah to collect insurance

The detainees, three men and a woman, staged a car crash between a Toyota Corolla and a Chevy truck.


Four Cubans residing in the United States were arrested forsimulate a traffic accident in Hialeah.

The detainees, three men and a woman, were discovered in their intention toFaking a car crash in order to later collect insurance.

Those involved were identified asJerson Sánchez, 24 years old; Félix González, 21; Andy Peña, 26, and Dayana Sánchez, 35.

According to the report ofAmerica News Miami, last Monday they fabricated an alleged accident at the intersection of 43rd Street and 9th Lane in East Hialeah, between a Toyota Corolla and a Chevy truck.

But the way the scene was left after the false collision and the statements of those involved raised suspicions among investigators. Finally, the four admitted to having prepared the accident.

They all appeared in criminal court,charged with conspiracy to commit auto insurance fraud.

Last January, Miami Police arrested four more of a total of fiveCubans who faked a car accident to defraud insurance companies National General and United Automobile for about 58 thousand dollars.

The alleged crash occurred on August 10, 2022 at the intersection of 14th Avenue and 4th Street in Southwest Miami, in Little Havana, where a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe collided with a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta.

Surveillance video from a power pole camera showed that the crash occurred slowly, although the damage reflected excessive speed.

The five scammers were identified asAmauri Rodriguez, Orislaidy Montano, Ruberlandy Cruzata, Lixelly Mayari and Vadira Sanchez, although the latter was not arrested.

The four men were charged with false fraudulent insurance claims, third-degree grand larceny and insurance fraud.
