A Facebook alert about materialchild sexual abuse and chilling messages found on a phone led police toput a Cuban behind bars for possession and promotion of sexual acts against a child, in Miami-Dade County.
Ramon Muguercia, 66, was arrested this Tuesday at his home in an apartment complex for seniors in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami, following a joint investigation involving Miami and Miami Beach police.
A Facebook notice that Muguercia had receivedchild sexual abuse material on the platform, specifically the rape of a child between 8 and 10 years old, triggered the police investigation.
According to the police report, the social network deactivated the profile of Muguercia, who assured the agents that he did not remember seeing the video and also denied that he had tried to buy videos.
However, upon checking his cell phone, investigators discovered a horrendous reality.
Muguercia sent messages to numerous individuals, whom he asked to perform sexual acts with children in exchange for money, indicated the arrest report, cited by the channelLocal 10 News.
After the agents showed him the chats, Muguercia confirmed that he had contacted random people through Facebook and then WhatsApp, “with the intent to receive child pornography", the police stated.
In one of the WhatsApp conversations, all in Spanish, the suspect promised to send $30 for videos to a man named “Alexander,” police said.
“Alexander” told Muguercia that he had children aged 6, 7 and 10 and sent him a photo of a 2-year-old boy's penis. After receiving it,The Cuban encouraged his interlocutor to rape the child, according to the police report.
Authorities also revealed that in a chat on Facebook Messenger, Muguercia asked a man named “Juank” to send him “a video of you fucking a little boy,” to which the individual responded: “When you send me the money, love.”
Later, Muguercia asked him: “Let's talk about the children, how old are they?”
According to the report, the Cuban said: “I want them small", andexpressed his desire to see the victims bleed after being sexually assaulted. “Yes sir, they are small,” was “Juank’s” response.
The authorities also found photos of Western Union receipts on the defendant's cell phone.
Muguercia faces expensivepossession and dissemination of a sexual act against a child. The suspect is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $30,000 bail.
