Five Cubans accused of simulating a traffic accident in Miami to defraud their insurance

This Thursday, the Police arrested four Cubans out of a total of five who simulated acar crash in Miami to defraud their insurance companies of about $58,000.

Amauri Rodriguez, Orislaidy Montano, Vadira Sanchez, Ruberlandy Cruzata and Lixelly Mayariare involved in the scam, according to the Florida Department of Financial Services Division of Forensic and Investigative Services.

On August 10 of last year, Amauri Rodríguez was driving a silver 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe that collided with a blue 2012 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Ruberlandy Cruzata, according to arrest reports.

AndSurveillance video from a utility pole camera showed the crash occurred slowly, although the damage reflected excessive speed..

Police arrested Rodriguez, Montano, Mayari and Cruzata this Thursday. Each of them faces charges of false fraudulent insurance claims, grand larceny in the third degree and insurance fraud.

The local press did not specify whether Vadira Sánchez was detained or if the Police are trying to locate her.

At the end of August of last year, five other people were arrested for defrauding health insurance of more than 58 thousand dollars through themontage of another car accident.

In that case, the defendants faced criminal charges for organized scheme to defraud, patient trafficking, staged accident, insurance fraud and grand theft.
