And Cuban police officer acted with violence when he was trying to arrest a man inside a home in Gibara, Holguín, where he attacked him, his ex-wife and his minor daughter, according to a family complaint.
The events occurred this Tuesday, when a sector chief - identified as "Mayarí" - entered a house on Pedro Martínez Rojas and 2nd Street, in order to arrest Rubiel Caballero Ramos, “Pasito”, and “attacked the aforementioned, along with his daughter and the girl's mother,” according to a publication shared in groups of Holguín residents on Facebook.
“In the photos and videos you can see how devastated the house was, please help share so that this does not go unpunished,” asked the person who shared images of the conditions in which the officer left the house when making the arrest.
In the comments to the publication, several residents in Gibara denounced the arbitrariness, abuse of power and impunity with which the officer usually acts, and questioned whether he is still a police officer.
“Is that man still working? With so many things he has to answer,” commented a young man. “How long is that police officer going to be doing his thing,” asked a woman.
In clear response to the complaints, the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) turned this Wednesday to one of the official pages that it uses to whitewash the image of the police, and came out to defend the officer's actions and denigrate the detainee and his family, in addition to avoid the assault on the minor.
He Hunter-Hunted profile, citing the version of events told by an alleged neighbor identified as Chela, said that the sector chief proceeded “in full use of his powers” to arrest Caballero, about whom he stated that “he never tires of stealing and doing "He hurts everyone he can, which is why they don't even want him in the neighborhood."
According to the account related to the Cuban regime, “old women, mothers, good and humble people have been victims of their misdeeds. They carry a trail of crimes on their backs, little given to honest work, by the way.”
However, even though he declares himself attached to the truth, the profile does not cite a single fact to prove his claims.
The MININT version - made in a mocking, unprofessional tone - also said that Daimarys Velázquez García “She pounced like a beast on the law enforcement agent when he tried to arrest her ex-husband (Rubiel)” and accused her of using social networks “to spread hate speech and repressed conflicts.”
The text states that Velázquez is being prosecuted for attack.
The publication omits the complaint assault on their minor daughter, and the havoc that the police caused in the house.
Another incident of police abuse in Holguín was documented on social networks last May, when a 14-year-old girl was beaten by a police officer.
Months earlier, relatives reported the death of Sergio Pozo Hernández, 30, in Santiago de Cuba, after a brutal beating by a police officer.
