They reveal video of the interrogation of the Cuban teenager who murdered his mother in Miami

The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office revealed on Thursday the video of the first interrogation of 13-year-old Derek Rosa after allegedly killing his mother in the apartment where they lived in Hialeah.

In the material, recorded with the security guard's camera, the young man agreed to testify without the presence of a lawyer and admitted to having murdered his mother Irina García, cutting an artery in her neck with a large kitchen knife.

Rosa stated that she woke up, went to the kitchen, prepared the knife and began the crime by cutting his neck, while with her right hand she scratched herself right in the area, she revealed.Univision, who had access to the full video.

According to the media, the teenager explained that he started in that area because "there is a type of vein that goes on both sides and if you cut there a lot of blood comes out."

DEREK ROSA: I woke up. I went to the kitchen. Then I went to his room and then…

INVESTIGATOR: Okay. You can say it.

DEREK ROSA: And I killed her.

With his hands he indicated the size of the "basic" kitchen knife, and also showed his still bloody hands to the officer who was interrogating him.

The agent asks him if that was blood on his coat, to which he responds "look at my hand," and points with his left hand to his right hand, where there was still dried blood.

It is the first time that the prosecution has revealed the video of the first interrogation carried out by the Hialeah police at the police station.

At the end of the interrogation, the officer asks him the reasons whyRosa murdered her mother.

INVESTIGATOR: Why did you kill your mother? You know?

DEREK ROSA: Do I have to say it now?

INVESTIGATOR: Yeah, get it off your chest.

DEREK ROSA: Can I wait for a lawyer?

And at that moment, the investigators explained that by requesting a lawyer they had to end the interview.

At the previous hearing, where several people who currently live with Rosa testified.

Among them, adetective who questioned him and said he "had done six Google searches" that included: "The carotid artery image diagram"; "Where is the best place to stab someone?"; "Is a small knife good for killing?"; "Is it easier to kill someone with a small knife?" and "Can a knife cut a bone?"

The young man from Hialeah is accused of murdering his mother Irina García on the night of October 12,stabbing him 46 times, several of them on the face, according to authorities.

A few weeks ago, the authorities revealed photographs about the murder that were recorded with the surveillance camera of the crib where the 14-day-old baby that the victim had just had was sleeping. In them you can see Irina with her newborn daughter in her arms before she died, the knife with which the crime would have been committed and Rosa posing ina selfie with hands full of blood.

He is isolated and monitored 24 hours a day in a level 3 cell. If found guilty, he could receive the death penalty or life imprisonment without bail.
