The audiovisual producer Ian Padron This Monday he announced his resignation as spokesperson and public relations officer of the Cuban Professional Baseball Federation (FEPCUBE).
In apublication on Facebook in which he said he was addressing the members of FEPCUBE, Padrón alleged personal reasons for not continuing to perform his duties in the organization.
“I'm very happy that everything is still going well. It is my duty to tell you that For personal reasons that everyone already knows, my collaboration as spokesperson and PR [Public Relations] of this organization is unviable.", wrote the filmmaker.
However, he clarified that he will continue to support the project, but without holding any position.
“I will continue to support them, but without any position within the organization and with the personal freedom that is inalienable for each of us. I think I couldn't be more elegant. I thank you and am very honored that you invited me. My respects to all. Thank you,” he concluded.
Padrón's resignation was received with surprise and divided opinions by his followers and apparently also among the organizers of FEPCUBE.
"Ian Padrón's announcement took us by surprise.Ian Padrón is an extraordinary guy, a baseball lover and multi-award-winning filmographer, knowledgeable about his work. The broadcast of the first game was fantastic, thanks to his knowledge and his mastery of the image on the screen. His absence will be felt," said Daniel De Malas, press officer of the Federation, in statements toCuban newspaper.
"We appreciate all the effort and time he spent. We respect his decision, which according to his own words is not a breakup. He has said that he is available to help," he added.
Regarding the reasons that may have led to the film director's resignation as spokesperson and public relations officer, De Malas pointed out thatperhaps Ian Padrón and the Federation differ when it comes to the concept of what a spokesperson should be.
The resignation of Ian Padrón as spokesperson for FEPCUBE was preceded by theexit fromDream Team of the ballplayer Yunel Escobar and for thecontroversy between the organization and rapper Yotuel Romero about the latter's decision to disassociate the phrase “Patria y Vida” from the project.
Despite the aforementioned events, Daniel De Malas clarified to the aforementioned media that the Cuban Professional Baseball Federation is not deflating and that they have trained more than fifty players who will play their second game on January 29.
"On the 29th we are going to play our second game but the Federation's plan is not just to play, it is much more than that. These are plans that we are going to develop in the immediate future and we know that they will be well received," he concluded.
Until the closing of this note, FEPCUBE has not commented on Ian Padrón's resignation on its social networks.
