Ian Padrón


Ian Padrón was born on March 14, 1976, in Havana.

Director and screenwriter. Son of Juan Padrón, known especially for the animated series Elpidio Valdés. Graduated from the Faculty of Film, Radio, and Television at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA).
He began collaborating by writing scripts for Zunzún and the Filminutos of ICAIC. He worked on the making of Arturo Sotto's film Amor vertical (1997).
He has produced numerous documentaries: Luis Carbonell: después de tanto tiempo (2001), Eso que anda (about Juan Formell and Los Van Van) (2009), and the most well-known of all, Fuera de Liga (2003), about baseball, Cuba's national sport.
Starting in 2010, he was the host of the radio program “De mañana” on Radio Taíno.
He has directed galas and concerts for key figures in the Cuban music scene, such as Los Van Van and Beatriz Márquez. He has also directed music videos and commercials.
In 2011, he premiered his first feature film Habanastation.
Since February 2015, he has been residing in the United States.
