
Ian Padrón was born on March 14, 1976, in Havana.
Director and screenwriter. Son of Juan Padrón, known especially for the animated series Elpidio Valdés. Graduated from the Film, Radio, and Television Faculty at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA).
He began by collaborating on scripts for Zunzún and the Filminutos for ICAIC. He produced the making-of for Arturo Sotto's film Amor vertical (1997).
He has produced numerous documentaries: Luis Carbonell: después de tanto tiempo (2001), Eso que anda (about Juan Formell and los Van Van) (2009), and the most well-known of all, Fuera de Liga (2003) about baseball, Cuba's national sport.
Since 2010, he has been the host of the radio program “De mañana” on the Radio Taíno station.
He has directed galas and concerts featuring key figures in the Cuban music scene such as Los Van Van and Beatriz Márquez. He has also directed music videos and commercials.
In 2011, he released his first feature film Habanastation.
Since February 2015, he has been residing in the United States.
