Thesolidarity among Cubans left an emotional anecdote this week, when a Havana woman did not hesitate to reach out to a disoriented elderly man at the moment he needed it most.

Olguyta Ricardo She became an urban heroine by helping the elderly Rolando Rivera Nodalce who was disoriented on one of the most dangerous roads in Havana, on the Monumental double lane.

A user identified asKingston Dany had shared in the Habana del Este Facebook group his concern for the man, who "seemed lost" and was wandering dangerously near the P11 stop in Los Tres Picos.

"He walks down the middle of the street and even stops right there," he warned on Facebook. Without wasting a moment, Olguyta offered to look for the man. "I'm on my way; he's from Cerro. I'm going to take care of his son until he arrives, I'm a neighbor of Reparto Bahía," she said.

He left his home as quickly as he could, "even without combing my hair," he said. After traveling through several areas, he managed to find the old man wandering in the middle of the dangerous dual carriageway.

"I looked for him in all those places, I saw him and I sat him under a tree, until his family arrived. He is completely dissociated. He had been missing for four days," said Olguyta.

Rivera Nodalce's family had reported his disappearance and asked Cubans for help, through social networks, to locate him. His call was heard.

Olguyta's act of compassion prevented a tragedy, since the double lane of the Monumental, where the old man was found, is a fast-moving road that represents a serious danger for pedestrians.

This Cuban's attitude received applause in the digital community. "Madam, God is going to bless you with many good things for that great gesture of humanity that not all people do," commented one user, reflecting a general feeling of gratitude and admiration towards the woman.

This incident ended with a happy ending thanks to the prompt intervention of a citizen. It reminds us of the importance of attention and care for the most vulnerable.

Olguyta Ricardo's attitude is an example of theselfless help among Cubans, showing that even in the most difficult times, empathy and collaboration are fundamental pillars of the island community.
