Yotuel speaks out on protests in Cuba: “Homeland and Life, damn it”

The artist showed support for Cubans from his social networks.

Yotuel Romero, one of the authors and performers of the song “Homeland and Life”, which became the anthem of the protests that shook Cuba in July 2021, and This Sunday it was heard again in the cry of the Cuban protesters in various territories of the country, has gone out on social networks to support the cause of his compatriots who are in the streets.

“I am in Spain, but I am in Cuba. Homeland and Life, damn it,” said the former member of Orishas from his profile on the social network Facebook.

“Patria y Vida” was launched on February 16, 2021 and since its release the song was widely accepted among Cubans who adopted it as an anthem of freedom.

The song is performed by Romero, Randy Malcom and Alexander Delgado of Gente de Zona, Descemer Bueno, Maykel Osorbo and El Funky, the latter from Cuba, who decided to record the song.

"I am very proud that God has given me the opportunity to be able to express in words the suffering of a people and above all to give us a slogan 'Homeland and Life'," Yotuel said in a video published on his Facebook profile to the two years since the release of the song.

Today his song reverberates again in the souls of Cubans who desire the freedom of Cuba.

The protests began this Sunday in Santiago de Cuba, to ask for "current and food" and have gradually spread, to other parts of the country.
