The Cuban regime received the first substitute for the Minister of Defense Víctor Vladimirovich Gulevich, the second senior military officer from Belarus to visit the island in less than two months.
The official was received by the vice minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) of Cuba, General Roberto Legrá, reportedLatin Press.
It does not detail the reason for the visit or the agenda of the military high command.
Last January, the minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba (FAR), Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, signed a military cooperation agreement with his counterpart, Lieutenant General Viktor Jrenin, Minister of Defense of Belarus.
Details of this agreement have not emerged either, but, according to analysts and independent press media, it further accentuates thetransfer of sovereignty from Havana to Moscow, in the midst of the critical scenario of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"Cuba is an important partner in the international arena and a strategic ally in the Western Hemisphere for the Republic ofBelarus. Despite our geographical distance and cultural differences, our countries are very similar: we defend freedom and independence, social justice and equal cooperation with other countries," Jrenin told the Cuban official press.
At the end of November, a report from the EFE Agency indicated that during a meeting in Havana between representatives of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Cuba, an important military cooperation plan was agreed upon.
