The Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz He arrived this Thursday in the People's Republic of China on an official visit and will later travel to Belarus.

Marrero will be in China until November 9. This is his first visit to the Asian nation as Head of Government.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin, said that it is "another important high-level exchange between China and Cuba" and recalled the visit of the ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in November 2022.

Wenbin assured that Marrero will have an intense work agenda that includes visiting the VI China International Import Exhibition, due to its relevance for trade, business interconnection and the promotion of business opportunities.

"China and Cuba are good friends who walk hand in hand and good colleagues who share the same vision," said Wenbin.

On Wednesday, Marrero said on Twitter that in addition to going to the Asian giant, he will be in Belarus on this tour. He indicated that his mission is to strengthen "the close ties of brotherhood" with both countries.

"I will make official visits to the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus, nations to which we are united by close ties of brotherhood, based on the principles of mutual solidarity and broad coincidences on issues on the international agenda," said Marrero.

Before traveling to China, Marrero was in Paris, where he held a meeting with members of the Cuban state mission in France.

In August it was learned that the Chinese government finances the production of the official press and other graphic materials in Cuba.

The Cuban regime modernizes the printing industry, the printing processes, the buildings of its propaganda media such as Juventud Rebelde, Trabajadores, Tribuna de La Habana and Granma Internacional, with a loan granted through the Export-Import Bank of China.

Chinese investments in the Caribbean island could also be aimed at establish an electronic spy base to capture signals and steal US military secrets. This was denounced in June The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing officials familiar with "highly classified" intelligence reports.

By allowing the use of its territory, the Cuban government could earn billions of dollars at a time of economic crisis in the country. There are also complaints about the possible establishment of a military training base of Chinese soldiers on the island.
