A severe local storm with hail fell this Friday affected the Cuban province of Artemisa.
The official Cubadebate portal reported that a strong electrical storm was advancing over that territory in western Cuba with hail falling, especially in the Guanajay municipality.
The report calls on the population to be alert to storms tonight and early morning after a deterioration in weather conditions.
Images on social networks show that the hail exceeded the size of a coin.
This Friday in western Cuba and southern Florida there was a deterioration in weather conditions and heavy rains and winds caused by a low pressure system have been reported.
In Florida, a flood and high wind alert was issued for Miami, Broward and other southern counties thatwill remain in effect until Saturday night.
The day before, the Cuban Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) warned of the entry of a new cold front in the west of the country, which would bring with it a high probability of rain and electric shocks.
"With the advance of this system, showers will occur,rain and thunderstorms, which can become strong and intense in some locations in the west. In areas of showers and rain, gusts of strong winds, hail and strong electrical activity may occur, as well as flooding in low-lying areas with poor drainage," the entity warned.
