Man sets himself on fire outside Trump court in New York

The man was taken to the burn unit at Cornell University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Man sets himself on fire outside Manhattan Criminal Court, where the trial for secret money of the former US president took place this FridayDonald Trump.

The information was confirmed by the police, who also indicated that the event occurred just when the jury was finishing the historic case.

The man identified asMax Azzarello, 37 years old, entered thepublic park in front of the courthouse at 100 Center St. shortly after 1:30 p.m., there he took off his jacket and put what police believe was an alcohol-based cleaning product on himself..

Images captured by security cameras show the man sitting while he was completely engulfed in flames and, later, while his blackened body writhed on the ground.

The flames consumed him for several minutes until lifeguards and people passing by helped, with fire extinguishers, to put out the fire on the man.

According to police sources, a few seconds before setting himself on fire, Azzarello had reached into a backpack and pulled out a load of colorful brochures that he then tossed into the air, including some that linked to a Substack page with the title: "I caught fire fire outside the Trump trial.”

The reason for this act, it seems, was “a protest” over a “totalitarian scam” and an imminent “apocalyptic” fascist global coup,” according to a rambling and incoherent 2,648-word manifesto posted online before the terrible event.

First responders took Azzarello to the burn unit at Cornell University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

According to himNew York Post, Azzarello, who identifies himself as an investigator, had filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court in April 2023 against more than 100 defendants, including the likes of Bill and Hillary Clinton, the country of Saudi Arabia, Mark Cuban, Richard Branson and Ross Perot (who died in 2019).

This Friday, the full jury that will judge Trump for the accusation of 34 crimes for alleged document falsification, within a plot with which he would have tried to hide the payment of 130 thousand dollars to Stormy Daniels to buy her silence and not talk about a alleged extramarital affair before the 2016 elections, was established.

The New York judge,Juan Merchan, told jurors: "I hope we start the trial on Monday." Merchan instructed jurors not to discuss the case with others or investigate it.
