Havana is not spared from blackouts and applies four-hour power cuts

The Cuban capital will face scheduled four-hour power cuts due to the generation deficit in the National Electric System.

The Havana Electric Company announced blackouts in the capital due to generation deficit in the National Electrical System and due to maintenance actions.

They warned that the municipalities of Boyeros, Habana del Este, Guanabacoa and San Miguel del Padrón will be affected this Friday, at 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., for maintenance actions.

On Facebook, the electricity company said on Thursday that it was necessary to apply electricity service cuts to customers in the capital linked to #Bloque No.2.

The outages were scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. On the previous day they had affected the clients of #Bloque No.1 "by emergency", at the same time.

The government tries to avoid prolonged outages in Havana, generally limiting them to periods of between three and four hours, but in the rest of the country the situation is more serious.

This Thursday, Cubans from different provinces reported blackouts that lasted up to 12 hours, leaving some sectors with barely four hours of electricity during the day.

Villa Clara and Mayabeque are the provinces most affected, recording outages of approximately 10.6 and 9.25 hours respectively. Camagüey also reported an average duration of blackouts of up to 12.1 hours.

In contrast, provinces such as Santiago de Cuba and Ciego de Ávila reported fewer incidents, with shorter outages that were not specified in exact duration.

Despite being one of the most densely populated areas of the country, Havana showed an average of 3-hour outages based on 14 reports received, showing that even the capital is not exempt from these energy problems that continue to affect the daily lives of residents. Cubans.
