Cubans reported blackouts on Wednesday across the country, with regions having only 4 hours of electrical service after five and six hours of darkness.

The strongest blackouts are in the provinces. The government tries to avoid power cuts in the capital and when it does, it is not usually for periods longer than three hours.

CyberCuba made an analysis of the reports of blackouts that our readers made from the island, with testimonies on Facebook. We group them by province, and specify the average duration of the blackouts.

In total, they analyzed 497 comments in the post dedicated to blackouts, of which 224 were identified as specific reports of power outages. These reports offer a detailed look at the magnitude and duration of the blackouts that affected various regions of the country.

The energy crisis in Cuba is worsening by the day. This week the government warned that blackouts will increase until the end of June due to the increase in maintenance work at several Thermoelectric Power Plants (CTE).

The authorities indicated that the objective of these maintenance actions is to arrive in the best possible conditions to the months of greatest electricity consumption and demand, which are July and August, when most of the population enjoys summer vacations.
