In a tragic incident that occurred in Biscayne Bay, Miami, a 15-year-old girl lost her life while enjoying a day of water skiing.

The incident happened last Saturday near Nixon Beach when a boat, which then fled the scene, brutally hit the teenager.

The victim, identified as Ella Adler, was celebrating a friend's birthday on a family boat. According to 7 News Miami, the parents of the birthday girl were driving the boat at the time of the fatal accident.

A witness to the incident described the scene as desolate. “There is a lot of blood in the water,” said one of the lifeguards who reported the event through radio transmissions.

According to reports from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the teenager was wearing her life jacket and was skiing when she was surprised by a light blue center console boat, which was last seen. heading west from the incident location.

FWC officers along with Miami-Dade police responded immediately, stopping several boats in the area and cordoning off the No Name Harbor Marina in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, in an effort to locate whoever was responsible for the hit-and-run.

Ella Adler, in addition to being a water skiing enthusiast, was a prominent dancer with the Miami City Ballet and a student at the Ransom Everglades School, where she was a member of the speech and debate team and the Jewish Student Association. "She was a dear friend to many," a school spokesperson said in a statement.

The community and local authorities are dismayed by the event. The FWC has announced a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the identification of the boater involved in this act of indifference that has cost a young life.
