The Cuban TikToker Kuki Acea, residing in Spain, has caused a stir on the internet by sharing a video in which she delivers a direct and candid message to families on the island, addressing the difficult situation that immigrants face and the constant pressure from the economic demands imposed by their relatives.
Cuban family, stop looking down on those who left Cuba as if they were foreigners exploiting them and asking for stuff. Cuban family, be satisfied with what others give you. Those who left Cuba and arrived in another country have a pretty tough life, the life of an immigrant is quite harsh," says the young woman in the video, which currently has more than 23 thousand likes and over 2 thousand comments.
The Cuban woman doesn't stop there and adds: "If you send them 100, they spend 100; if you send them 200, 200, 300... it's not enough for them and they say they don't have any, that they are crying poor, that they have no food but have painted nails, fake hair, the latest phone. If they want to live better than us who are here and still want to stay in Cuba having a good life, well, then screw Díaz-Canel," she adds visibly upset.
"We are also in need here, don't think that things are easy here, money doesn't just fall from the sky. Here you have to pay, here you have to pay for everything, everything, housing, food, everything, insurance, everything, because immigrants here feel alone, you have to understand that here you have to pay for everything, don't ask for anything more, don't ask for anything more, and be content with what you receive each month," she goes on in her viral reflection that has generated an avalanche of comments and diverse reactions on TikTok, where many users showed their support and agreed with the message, while others considered it inappropriate and generalizing.
"That is for your family, nobody gives you permission to speak for all Cuban families. You do not have that right, I am sorry that yours has to do all that"; "that is not my case but I have heard many cases saying they are in a terrible situation," "Thank God it is not my case, my family is very understanding and empathetic towards me, they do not ask me for anything! And I thank God because every month I can send them!", some said who expressed living a different relationship with their loved ones on the island.
"Oh my goodness, imagine that I send my mom 300 a month and a few days ago she told me to remove the extensions so that I could help her a little more. It makes me so angry!", shared another person, who supported the opinion of their compatriot.
"That's me too. Never good enough for anyone, with fake nails and a better phone than mine. Sleeping in tomorrow and asking for a top-up. Powerless."; "How I wish to hear someone with my thoughts, I thought I was stingy or careless, such a relief that I'm not alone in this."; "That's why Cuba will never change! It's the same Cuban people who keep the regime alive!!"; "That's true, on top of that they go out celebrating May 1st"; "Hey, I agree with you, my family live well, they lack nothing because I support them all but they are all shameless, I give them and they keep sucking", others said.
And what do you think?
