The new signing for Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé, bid farewell this Sunday to the possibility of representing France in the football tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, despite it being a national demand given what the goalscorer represents.

In a press conference ahead of the French team's debut in the Euro Cup, the star stated that the Merengue club will not allow any of its players to compete in the tournament scheduled from July 26 to August 11.

"My club has a very clear stance. I believe that I will not participate in the Olympic Games; that is a reality. That's how things are," he stated in remarks published by the Prensa Latina agency.

However, the position of the 15-time Champions League champions is understandable for Mbappé: "I will be joining a new club, and it wouldn't be the best start for an adventure," reasoned the 2018 World Cup champion.

Moreover, the reality is that the Olympic Games are not part of FIFA's calendar, and teams are not required to release their players. As a result, French coach Thierry Henry has lost hope of fielding the striker.

Henry will lead the under-23 team, as mandated by Olympic regulations, but he can invite up to three athletes over the age of 23. However, he will not be able to call up Eduardo Camavinga (21) and Aurélien Tchouaméni (24), who are also stars of the Madrid squad.

With the label of favorites and following their penalty shootout loss to Argentina in the final of Qatar 2022, France will face Austria in the continuation of Group D of the Eurocup, which saw the success of the Netherlands over Poland (2-1) this Sunday.
