A spiritual touch with a blend of Cuban folk religions will be given to the Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz, and other music figures who passed away in the month of July.

The Cuban journalist Michel Hernández reported that the folklore music and dance group specializing in spiritual chants Nsila Cheche will perform on July 4th at the Buena Vista Cultural Center in Havana.

Hernández assured that the resources for the event, which will also pay tribute to Adolfo Guzmán, Isaac Nicola, José Manuel Aniceto, El Dany, Sindo Garay, Compay Segundo, Pupy Pedroso, Elio Revé, will come from the members of the group in charge of the gathering.

They are figures of Cuban music who are no longer with us physically, but they are spiritually present," expresses a message from the group, as mentioned by the communicator.

Furthermore, it emphasizes that "we all know what it means to carry out a religious activity of that kind in Cuba for Celia Cruz, historically censored for her political stance and whose music is not played on state media."

Likewise, Hernández emphasizes that "it is, at the very least, a remarkable fact that Cuban musicians turn to their neglected symbols and show them the respect they deserve."

Family and friends of the artists who will be remembered are invited to the event, where their music will be played, and images of their history will be shown.

Celia Cruz Alfonso was born on October 21, 1925 in Cuba and passed away on July 16, 2003 in the USA, a victim of a brain tumor.

Celia took her music to the world with the Fania All-Stars, receiving countless accolades, including multiple platinum and gold records, three Grammy Awards, four Latin Grammy Awards, the Presidential Medal of the Arts, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Her legacy has been so great that even the United States Mint officially announced the final designs for the third year of the American Women Quarters Program, which includes Celia Cruz along with other distinguished female personalities, which would be in circulation starting in 2024.

Recently, the album "Celia Cruz En Vivo: 100 Years of Sugar" was released, a commemorative compilation dedicated to her centennial, which includes nine unreleased tracks recorded live in Miami during 1986 and 1987.
