A fire that occurred this Monday in Santiago de Cuba consumed a house inhabited by a person in a situation of poverty, but it was quickly brought under control due to the proximity of a point of sale for liquefied gas cylinders.
Journalist Yosmany Mayeta reported on Facebook that the fire completely destroyed a house in the Nuevo Van Van neighborhood in Altamira, with no injuries or fatalities reported.
"The residence was located on a small estate between the Punta Gorda road and the Tourist road," the communicator noted.
He added that, according to neighbors in the area, the fire was caused by the burning of garbage, whose flames spread to the nearby house, although he noted that this version still needs to be confirmed.
Mayeta pointed out that in the Nuevo Van Van neighborhood, there are many houses in precarious conditions, built with cans and wood that their inhabitants collect from the area's dumpsters.
This Monday, another fire occurred in Santiago de Cuba, but in this case, the cause was the explosion of an electric motorcycle.
The incident occurred on Calle 6 between Enramada and Aguilera, Reparto Santa Bárbara, without loss of human lives.
Recently, in the city of Santiago de Cuba, another house caught fire after the explosion of a motorcycle.
At the beginning of the month, a garbage dump in the middle of a street in the Mantilla neighborhood of Havana caught fire and caused inconveniences for the local population.
