Cuban woman in Georgia complains about donation requests at her daughter's school: "They are always asking for money."

"They are always asking for money and it's always something different."

The content creator Flavia Rodríguez (@flaviarod58), a Cuban mother residing in Georgia, shared on TikTok her experience with the continuous requests for donations at her daughter's school.

In the video, Flavia explained that every year the school asks for money for different projects, including the construction of a sports court, which so far has not been completed. "They are always asking for money, and it's always something different throughout the year. They are not satisfied with all the taxes we pay; they also ask for money in the middle of the year," the young woman commented.

In addition to the recurring requests, she expressed discomfort with "the strategy they use to make parents donate money through the children": they give the children keychains to hang on their backpacks, which are only received by those whose parents contribute. Flavia recounted that when her daughter Valeria asked her for one of those keychains, she resisted at first, but ended up donating again due to feeling the pressure.

The video has generated many reactions from other parents who felt identified. "Every week where my child goes, they ask for money"; "They do it on purpose, what nerve"; "It's true, it's all about extracting money one way or another given the state of the economy"; "I thought they only asked for money in Cuba"; "Pure intelligence"; "Manipulators," they commented.

Rodríguez also mentioned that last year money was requested for a light festival that never took place due to a storm, but the money was not refunded: "In the end, the festival was only held for the children who were honored, and the other children whose parents contributed money did not have a festival," she explained.
