Cuban in the U.S. shares what she will do when she can return to the island: "I have never walked barefoot, but I feel that I need to."

"I left Cuba, but Cuba will never leave me."

Nathyy Zaldivar Toro, a young Cuban living in the United States, has touched users on TikTok with a video where she shared the things she dreams of doing when she can return to the island.

In the video, the creator confessed that one of the first things she wants to do, after hugging her children, is "to walk barefoot in front of her house," a gesture that symbolizes the connection to her roots and the nostalgia for the island.

"I have never walked barefoot or anything, but I feel that I need it; I don't know why, but I need to feel that I am in my homeland," the young woman elaborated -who in the comments to her post added that she still does not have residency in the country.

Nathyy also shared her wishes to enjoy the food (because for her "the roasted pigs here do not taste the same as those over there") and the Cuban beaches, which she believes have no comparison.

"I left Cuba, but Cuba will never leave me," she stated with longing in the video, where she commented that, although she appreciates the opportunities she has found in the U.S. and is tremendously grateful, she feels it is a "somewhat lonely" country, in contrast to the joy and energy that characterize Cubans.

The video has generated a large number of reactions from users who share their feelings of nostalgia: "This happens to all of us, abroad we love our land more, I even miss the neighborhood dogs"; "God bless you, everything you say, I see your sincerity, that going barefoot is the direct contact you want to have with your mother earth, in my case, I am I220A and I have been here for almost three years"; "I also dream of hugging my little daughters, my parents, my family, how I miss them, blessings to you"; "I woke up with this video ufff, my heart became tiny. I even feel like crying"; "Thank God we are here, but, oh the children, the children we left behind for a better future that only those of us who have lived it know that feeling"; "Wow Nathy, how beautiful. I have also thought about this desire to go barefoot when I visit Cuba. I have already lived it in my mind and it is exciting, and I find you with this message"; "I asked a work friend to bring me a little dirt or a stone from Cuba, when he returned he told me he forgot, I won't be able to go until the dictatorship falls, or I will die without being able to see," some commented, making it clear that despite having left, the emotional bond with the island is unbreakable.

This video adds to another recent post where Nathyy defended her decision to send money to her family in Cuba, emphasizing that "Cuba is indeed a bill" for her, as she feels the responsibility to not leave her loved ones behind and to take care of them.
