A young Venezuelan woman married to a Cuban ventured to share the cultural clashes or behaviors that surprise her most about her husband in a TikTok video. The protagonist of the clip is @carladempaire, who has confided to internet users about her lack of understanding regarding the passion for dominoes and Cuban expressions...
In the video, the woman admits that she doesn't understand the passion that Cubans feel for dominoes. "In Venezuela, we play, but Cubans take it very seriously," comments Carla.
She also confesses that she had difficulties initially with some typical Cuban words, like "pomo." "The first time someone said to me, 'pass me the pomo,' I didn’t understand what it was. Now the word just slips out," she says with a laugh.
Fortunately, her love for dancing has been a point of connection with her Cuban partner. "I have to confess that it fit me perfectly that I learned to dance salsa casino in Venezuela, and my Cuban dances it," she adds.
Finally, the Venezuelan shares a funny culinary anecdote: "I didn't know what a congrí was. The first few times I had to make congrí and beans, I took out canned beans."
"I am Cuban and I don't understand that passion for dominoes either; when my husband goes to play, I prefer to stay home because I know it almost lasts until dawn," "I feel the same way, and then when he told me for the first time, 'java,'" or "I am Dominican married to a Cuban and I can't cook in the olla reina; I cook in calderos and make light coffee; I can't handle strong coffee," are some of the reactions that are read.
