A Cuban shares his first time in a store in Las Vegas: "I don't know if I'm just very stingy or everything seems expensive to me."

A young Cuban, @marky_barrera, who had spent several months in Mexico waiting for his CBO One appointment, recently shared on TikTok his first experience shopping in a store in Las Vegas, United States.

In the video, the young man expressed his surprise at the prices, commenting on how his mind kept making the conversions from Cuban currency to dollars, which he described as a "trauma" that still accompanied him.

"I'm seeing here that the prices... I don't know if it's that I'm very stingy or everything seems expensive to me," she said jokingly while walking through the supermarket aisles. "It costs me nothing more and nothing less than $6," she explained, pointing to some candies, before making a comparison with the value of that amount in Cuban pesos and MLC (Freely Convertible Currency). "Cuba doesn't leave me," she added, reflecting on the impact of the Cuban economic situation on her way of seeing prices.

Throughout the video, the young man continued to express his amazement at the cost of basic products like apples and garlic, highlighting that, despite being in the United States, he still felt the need to compare prices with those in Cuba.

The reactions from her followers were immediate, many of them assuring her that that feeling would fade over time. "That happens to all of us newcomers," one user commented, while another added, "I've been here for 4 months and I still think that way." Others encouraged her and advised patience: "Once you start working, it will pass," wrote another follower, reminding her that over time she would stop seeing the prices as so high.

This young Cuban had already established a strong emotional bond with his audience during his stay in Mexico, where he documented key moments of his migration process.

In mid-August, she had posted an emotional video in which she shared the moment she received the news of her appointment, moving her followers with the reaction of her loved ones, including her boss in Mexico, whom she described as a maternal figure.

Weeks later, he moved his fans again by sharing his much-anticipated reunion in the United States with his partner, showing in a video the moment they finally hugged after so much time apart. "Finally together," he celebrated at that moment.
