The Telecommunications Company of Cuba (ETECSA) in Pinar del Río reported this Wednesday that the disruptions to telephone service have been minimal due to the proximity of Hurricane Helene.

According to a post on Facebook by the official channel Tele Pinar, the entity reported that power cuts have temporarily limited some functions, but have not caused significant damage to the telecommunications infrastructure.

Alexis Lemus Rosa, head of the commercial and marketing department of ETECSA in the province, highlighted that despite the strong winds and rains associated with the hurricane, communications through the data network, mobile phone services, and landlines have remained operational.

This has been made possible thanks to the preventive measures implemented to ensure that the population continues to have access to telecommunications services, the post added.

The technicians and specialists of the company remain on alert to respond quickly to any eventuality that may compromise the cable lines or the service, due to the intense winds.

ETECSA assured that it will continue to monitor the situation and take immediate actions to minimize any impact on communications during this weather contingency.

Helene is also bringing heavy rains to the westernmost part of Cuba, which is located to the right of the meteorological phenomenon, and is the most affected by the rain bands.
