A Cuban woman living in Málaga has shared a TikTok video about the main differences between the beaches of Varadero, in Cuba, and those of Marbella, in Spain. According to Wendy Rey (@wendyrey.7), she sees notable contrasts between the two.
The first difference he mentions is the sand. "The Caribbean beaches have finer and whiter sand than those in the Mediterranean," he explains, adding that the water in Varadero is "quite clear."
Another aspect that stands out is people's behavior. The Cuban woman comments that in Spain it is quite common to see women going topless on the beach, while in Cuba, this is something virtually nonexistent. "If we see a woman going topless, it's definitely because she is not Cuban," she points out.
Regarding the services, he says: “In Marbella, you can find everything. There is a very large waterfront promenade, filled with bars, restaurants, and beach bars, restaurants right by the beach. In Cuba, it is very rare to see that. What you will find are loungers, and if there is any kind of bar, it probably belongs to a hotel in the area. You might come across street vendors."
Another curious difference is that in Spain, in general, it is common to see people sunbathing to get tanned, while in Cuba, they prefer to protect themselves from the intense sun, and there are even people who wear long-sleeved swimwear to avoid sunburns.
"The beaches of the Caribbean are quite warm, while those of the Mediterranean are quite cold," he concludes.
