A terrifying short circuit that occurred early this morning left part of El Vedado in Havana without electricity.
Pedro Luis García, photojournalist and administrator of the Facebook group "El Vedado de hoy," revealed that since 1:00 AM, the street lighting and the houses located on 11th Street between E and F have been without power.
After the passage of Hurricane Helene, at 9:30 am the wind continued to hit the area and it rained intermittently.
"The company is already informed, but it needs to improve the timing," he said.
According to the neighbor, the problem is that the corner of 11th Street and E has a lot of trees, and the pruning company from Comunales should prune the area, but "they do not do the corresponding work."
"It is now 9:34 am and the gusts of wind are felt. The team from the electricity company will be delayed due to the weather conditions. Only this part has been reported by the company. It's not all of El Vedado," he specified.
While that was happening in Havana, in Pinar del Río, more than 75,000 families were left without electricity this Thursday after the passage of Hurricane Helene.
According to journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso, there are specifically 75,544 customers from all municipalities in the province who do not have service at this moment.
"In the city, many of the circuits have gone down due to the strong winds that persist," he noted.
Yamile Ramos Cordero, first secretary of the Party in the territory, revealed that in the coming hours, brigades from Havana, Mayabeque, and Cienfuegos will arrive to work on the recovery.
"This morning was more complex than the previous one. The province recorded gusts of up to 90 km/h. It rains intermittently but with intensity in several communities," he said.
