A fire broke out this Friday at the headquarters of the publishing house of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba, located at Zanja Street No. 352, corner of Escobar, in Centro Habana.

The incident occurred between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m., and prompted the rapid mobilization of firefighters and law enforcement agents, reported the independent portal Cubanet.

Preliminary reports indicate that the fire may have been caused by the explosion of an electrical transformer located on the building's facade.

Although the images show smoke and visible damage on the exterior of the structure, reports suggest that there was no significant damage to the interior of the building, said the aforementioned outlet.

The firefighters, along with the security personnel, worked quickly to extinguish the flames and secure the affected area.

So far, no injuries have been reported in this incident, which mobilized a large part of the local residents.

Cuban authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
