Cuban couple dies in a house fire in Miami

The neighbors claim that the woman set the house on fire out of jealousy.

A couple of Cubans died in the early hours of Friday as a result of a fire in a house in northwest Miami.

Neighbors of the victims said that it was a woman named Bárbara Tamayo, who was in a relationship with a man, Daniel, who was about 30 years younger than her. The other victim was a young man who apparently lived with them and was identified as Amaury, reported América TeVe.

A man who shared the residence – supposedly divided into several efficiencies – with the victims said that the fire was set intentionally, as the woman was very jealous and had problems with her partner.

The witness, who was also injured, states that he arrived at 1:30 in the morning and found her sitting on the porch with a sinister look on her face.

Bárbara had been prosecuted and had a history of domestic violence because she was very jealous and did not want the boy to leave the house or greet any other woman.

According to the report from América TeVe, the deceased was disabled due to personality disorders and aggression.

The fire occurred at 3:00 am on Friday at 1922 Northwest 52nd Street in Miami-Dade.

The firefighters responded to an emergency call and upon arriving broke the windows of the house, then rescued the victims and attempted to save them using cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques.

Although they arrived alive at the hospital, they died minutes later.
