Fire in a house in Santiago de Cuba raises alarm among neighbors.

The fire was quickly controlled by the firefighters. The cause is under investigation, but a short circuit is suspected following the return of electricity.

A house located in the quarter on 13th Street, between Nueva Street and Jardines, in the neighborhood of Veguita de Galo, Santiago de Cuba, suffered a fire this Monday, causing alarm among the neighbors in the area.

Independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta received testimonies from people who were in the area. He claims that no injuries have been reported, but residents remain vigilant for official reports.

The fire was quickly brought under control by the firefighters, preventing it from spreading to nearby homes.

Despite the prompt intervention, the residents in the area expressed fears that the fire would spread due to it being a boarding house with numerous homes.

Authorities are investigating the causes of the fire, although some witnesses suggest it may have been caused by a short circuit, triggered after the electricity service was restored.

This incident in the Veguita de Galo neighborhood occurs in a context of rising tension in the city, where fires have become more frequent due to the lack of effective community services.

Recently, the population set fire to a dumpster near the "La Plaza" market on Aguilera Street, in response to the crisis in solid waste collection affecting the city.

Frustrated neighbors due to the ineffective garbage collection have chosen to set fire to the waste as a form of protest, which has led to a series of incidents in Santiago de Cuba in recent weeks.
