The Cuban-born actor and model Carlo Arrechea confessed in an interview that one of his dreams when he lived in Cuba was to eat an apple.
"One of my dreams in Cuba was to eat an apple. There were no apples in Cuba, at least when I was there. So that was the first thing I ate when I arrived in the United States," Arrechea told OUT in a lengthy interview.
The Cuban arrived in the North American country in 2002, after his mother, who is also an actress, won a spot in the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, popularly known as the lottery.
"My mother played the lottery in 1998. She received the letter four years later, in 2002, when she was at the peak of her career," he said, adding that "there were many mixed feelings. For me, it was a new beginning. For her, it was leaving her career as an actress and starting over."
Alongside her mother, she worked on a Cuban version of an "after-school special" made for television. At that time, she was only six years old.
"I have been in the United States longer than in Cuba," commented the actor born in Havana on January 17, 1990.
"But it's funny because sometimes I don't feel Cuban enough, but I don't feel American enough either. It's like a mixture of both countries, and I've been taking the best from each," he added.
Throughout his career, Carlo has participated in soap operas such as "Más sabe el diablo," "El Cartel 2," and "Alguien te mira," which aired on Telemundo. He has also acted in six plays in Miami, and in the short films "Fate's Decree" and "El Manantial."
