Due to the energy crisis in Cuba, the General Consulate of Spain in Havana announced via X that it will temporarily close its offices in Lonja del Comercio starting October 21, canceling nationality and passport appointments. However, the offices in the Palacio de Velasco (Embassy) will remain open, and appointments for visas, marriages, notary services, and legalizations will continue to be held. The consulate will contact the affected individuals to reschedule their appointments.

The first post on the mentioned network was made one hour earlier:

The Consulate of Spain had already issued an alert on October 18 recommending to follow official communications regarding the energy emergency declared that day by the authorities. On October 21, the consulate reported that they would start receiving 326 more people per week to submit their applications for the Law of Democratic Memory, which represents an increase of 37.33% in order to expedite this process.

Yesterday, the United States Embassy in Havana also suspended all its services starting this Monday due to the collapse of the electrical system in Cuba and will only handle emergencies, as announced in a security alert for U.S. citizens and visa applicants.
