The Cuban Embassy in Guyana reported that actress Diana Rosa Suárez was transferred to the public hospital in Georgetown, the Guyanese capital, where she continues to receive treatment after suffering a heart attack last Saturday in Havana.
According to a note posted by the diplomatic mission on Facebook, the Cuban ambassador to Guyana, Jorge Francisco Soberón Luis, visited Diana Rosa and verified her good spirits.
It is reported that the actress remains in stable condition and that the embassy will conduct systematic follow-ups on her progress.
Suárez, known for her outstanding career in theater and television, suffered a heart attack last Saturday, and when she arrived at the cardiology institute, she did not want to be hospitalized because she had to travel to Guyana to apply for a tourist visa for the United States, as clarified by journalist Julita Osendi.
The actress later traveled to Guyana, where local doctors confirmed that in addition to this heart attack, she has another one that is believed to have occurred about three months ago, and they recommended a month of complete rest.
Diana Rosa Suárez, known for her iconic roles as “The Fox's Bride” and other memorable characters, was in Guyana for an appointment at the United States embassy to process a visa that would allow her to reunite with her grandchildren and nieces abroad.
On August 30, Diana Rosa Suárez celebrated her 80th birthday with a big party surrounded by friends and colleagues, such as Tahimí Alvariño, Paula Alí, Verónica Lynn, Néstor Jiménez, Mario Aguirre, Héctor Noas, Miriam Socarrás, and Gretel Cazón, as well as host Marino Luzardo and singers Beatriz Márquez and Héctor Tellez.
Diana Rosa was born in the Luyanó neighborhood of Havana and is the grandmother of two granddaughters who live in the United States.
