Cuban shows how to cook in the middle of the general blackout.

The energy crisis leaves millions of families without fuel to prepare food in Cuba.

A Cuban shared a video showing how they cook food for the whole family at home during these days of general blackout in Santiago de Cuba.

The man placed a granite bar and on top of that put an old lamp, one of those that used to be used with bright light. However, it had no fuel, so he had to put in some small branches to create the fire.

"There's where we're going to make the rice, some fongos (plantains), and then let's see if we can get an avocado. Also, we're straining the coffee there," said the Santiago native.

The video was shared by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook. "This is how you cook in Cuba during times of total blackout, caused by the inefficiency of communism," the reporter commented.
