Latent Danger in Havana: Unprotected Electrical Outlets Within Reach of Children

The video was recorded this week in Old Havana and Central Havana.

A tour conducted by the CiberCuba team through the streets of Old Havana and Center Havana revealed over a dozen locations where electric cables are exposed, in many cases at ground level and within reach of pedestrians, including children.

The images, recorded this week on streets such as Ánimas and Monserrate; Consulado and Refugio; and Refugio and Industria, show unprotected cables and poorly maintained electrical boxes, visibly violating safety regulations and exposing residents and passersby to serious risks.

Some of these cables and records are located in busy public areas, while others can be found in dilapidated lots and buildings, as well as in government workplaces, where the cables stretch across sidewalks without any protection.

The affected areas include intersections on central streets such as Chacón between Habana and Aguiar; and Cuba and Chacón, as well as lots in high-traffic areas like the Solar de la California, located at Crespo and Colón.

These danger points not only pose a threat to public safety but also highlight a deterioration of urban infrastructure in Havana, which, according to its residents, is "falling apart."
