Cuban boxer Robeisy Ramírez appeared confident and prepared as he approaches his much-anticipated second fight against Mexican Rafael "Divino" Espinoza, who took away the World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight title from him.
Ramírez (14-2, 9 KO), determined to reclaim the title on December 7 in Arizona, shared his mood and a series of photos on Facebook, writing: "One week closer to regaining my world title."
"The Train," Olympic champion of London 2012 and Rio 2016, has been working intensely in preparation for this fight, and he has appeared confident on social media, showcasing his focus and energy.
In the defeat against Espinoza (25-0, 21) in December 2023, the fighter from Cienfuegos lost his universal title, but he had the Mexican on the verge of a knockout when the bell rang, allowing the winner to recover and eventually take control of the scorecards.
Although one of the judges scored the bout as a tie (113-113), the other two favored Espinoza, awarding him the victory with scores of 115-111 and 114-112.
Now, Ramírez seeks the opportunity for redemption, as this rematch represents not only a chance to regain his title but also to re-establish himself as one of the standout boxers in his division and among the new wave of professional fighters from the island.
