As part of their preparation for the Premier 12 baseball tournament, Cuba extended their winning streak on Wednesday by defeating the CTBC Brothers, champions of the Professional League of Taiwan, 7-1 at the Intercontinental Stadium in Taichung.

This victory marked the team's second consecutive success on Taiwanese soil, following their narrow win the day before against the semi-professional team Life Along (6-5) in a tightly contested match from start to finish.

Despite connecting only six hits, the offense led by Armando Johnson was effective. First baseman Ariel Martínez, recently arrived from the Japanese League, stood out as the cleanup hitter by driving in two runs with a pair of hits.

According to the digital publication JIT, Yoan Moncada, Yoelquis Guibert, Jeans Walters, and Andrys Pérez contributed the other hits for the Caribbean lineup.

On the mound, Yoennis Yera stood out by throwing five solid innings, in which he allowed only one run from a home run and struck out five opponents.

Yusniel Padrón also shone, working three innings with six strikeouts, and Raidel Martínez, who made his debut this season with a perfect inning, including two strikeouts.

The Cuban team will face the CTBC Brothers again on Thursday before moving to the capital, Taipei, where they will compete in Group B of the Premier 12 starting November 13.

In his key are the locations of the Dominican Republic, Australia, Japan, the reigning monarch, and South Korea, the latter having been the winner of the first edition of the Premier 12 in 2015.

For their part, the teams from the United States, Puerto Rico, Panama, Venezuela, the Netherlands, and host Mexico will begin their matches in Group A, which will take place in the cities of Tepic and Guadalajara.
