Hurricane Rafael made landfall around 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday as a category 3 cyclone on the Saffir-Simpson scale and left the country as a category 2 storm around 7:00 p.m. the same day, near Cabañas Bay in Artemisa.

According to the Cuban government, it is in Artemisa where the greatest damage is concentrated, particularly in hospitals, schools, service centers, homes, roofs, and the electrical grid.

Despite the damages, which are still being assessed, the authorities have not disclosed the loss of human lives due to the storm.
