A Cuban, amidst despair, reported the severe damage suffered in his locality in the province of Granma following the second earthquake recorded this Sunday in the eastern part of the island.
Through a video shared on Facebook by journalist Anolvis Cuscó Tarradell, the resident described the devastation left by the tremor and remarked, filled with uncertainty: "This here is ending, it's over."
In the video call shared by Tarradell, the resident of Granma displayed the devastation caused by the earthquake in the area, highlighting the impact of the phenomenon on the affected communities.
It is worth noting that two seismic events occurred today in the eastern region of Cuba. The first tremor, measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale, was reported at 10:50 a.m. at coordinates 19.75 degrees north latitude and 76.91 degrees west longitude.
Later, at 11:49 a.m., a second, more intense earthquake occurred, measuring 6.7 in magnitude and located at a depth of 10 km, 32 kilometers southeast of Pilón, in the province of Granma, at coordinates 19.2 degrees north latitude and -76.99 degrees west longitude.
Following the tremors, damage has been reported in homes and state buildings in other provinces, including Santiago de Cuba.
Tarradell himself showcased on Facebook the cracks in the walls of the North Children's Hospital, known as "La Ondy," caused by the earthquakes.
In the town of Cobre, there are also reports of damage caused by the earthquakes, as well as to the structure of Lodge No. 2 of the Masonic Order in Santiago de Cuba, which had already sustained damage prior to this.
