"Since when have I not had a small cup of milk with coffee for breakfast": The heartfelt message of a Cuban on the island

Cuban Lisandra Plaish shares her joy on TikTok for enjoying a simple breakfast, a luxury in Cuba due to scarcity. Her followers on social media have enabled her to generate income.

The young Cuban Lisandra Plaish has shared a special moment from her day on her TikTok account @lisandra_plaish, joyfully showcasing how she was able to enjoy a breakfast that has become a luxury for many on the island.

In the recently published video, Lisandra is seen enjoying a cup of coffee with milk paired with a hot dog bun, and she excitedly expresses her gratitude for the support from her followers, which, through their interactions on the platform, has allowed her to generate some small earnings.

"I am having a small cup of coffee with milk that I love, and a little bread with hot dog. It's been a while since I could have coffee with milk for breakfast, but thanks to you all, I am now having breakfast," the young woman said in the video, visibly excited.

The situation of scarcity and economic difficulties in Cuba has made products like milk increasingly inaccessible for most Cuban families, turning basic food items into luxury goods.

In this context, Lisandra's message has resonated with hundreds of users who have left supportive and solidarity-filled comments, acknowledging the challenges she faces every day and highlighting the significance of social media as a small source of income.

The video also reflects how many Cubans have found in digital platforms a way to showcase their realities and gain support from their followers.

For Lisandra, this daily interaction not only allows her to connect with those who follow her content but also brings to her table a breakfast that would otherwise be nearly impossible to enjoy.
