Marianela Ancheta is more than ready to give her all in the preliminary round of Miss Universe 2024, a night that will determine which of the 125 contestants will make it to the final gala on November 16 at the Arena Ciudad de México.
From early on, the young woman from Villa Clara was already full of energy, ready to win over the audience and the judges of the competition once again.
“Today, Cuba will be present on the Miss Universe stage after so many years. This opportunity has been denied to us… like many others. We are making history! The excitement I feel is incredible… I feel a rush of adrenaline, honor, and pride. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this and to all who support me. Today is one of the days I have worked so hard for. Whenever you see me walk onto that stage, know that I carry you all with me,” Marianela wrote on her Instagram.
Wearing a short light blue dress adorned with feathers, sequins, and sheer elements, the model once again garnered thousands of likes and hundreds of comments.
However, nothing surprised his fans more than the traditional outfit he will showcase in tonight's parade.
"Oshún is one of the most revered Orishas in Cuban santería, which has its roots in the Yoruba religion of West Africa. She represents love, fertility, beauty, sensuality, and freshwater, especially rivers. Oshún is seen as a maternal, kind, and protective deity, but she can also be strong and assertive when necessary. She symbolizes the joy of living and prosperity, and she is often invoked for assistance in matters of love, health, and wealth," stated the young woman on that same social media platform.
The chosen outfit for this preliminarily reflects its roots: “For many Cubans, Oshún also represents the ability to overcome difficulties with grace and resilience, qualities that many associate with the Cuban spirit. Her traditional colors are yellow and gold, and it is said that she enjoys honey, pumpkin, and cinnamon. In popular culture, Oshún has become a symbol of identity and pride, especially for Afro-descendant Cubans.”
