The Christmas spirit has taken over Tropical Park in Miami since this Thursday, transformed into a dazzling family spectacle with the arrival of Christmas Wonderland, the theme park that celebrates the holiday season each year.
However, its popularity brought some drawbacks, and the traffic congestion quickly reached the allowed capacity limit.
Due to the massive influx of visitors, the administration decided to close access to the park for safety reasons.
"On the night before Christmas Wonderland at Tropical Park, we experienced an unprecedented demand for access to the park. As a precaution, we made the decision to close the park once it reached capacity, as the safety of our visitors and staff is our top priority. Our team is committed to providing an optimal and safe holiday experience for the community," stated the park administration in a statement.
Videos posted on social media highlighted the significant traffic congestion around the park, leading some drivers to express their frustration.
A magical experience for fortunate visitors.
Those who managed to enter the park enjoyed a preview of Christmas.
This is the second consecutive year that Christmas Wonderland returns to Miami, offering a journey through six themed worlds with unique settings, sounds, and activities.
Among the highlights this year is "Holidade," a celebration that showcases the cultural diversity and neighborhoods of Miami-Dade County.
In addition, the organizers have added four new musical shows and original performances, including the presence of Santa Claus.
"We want to create memories for families and friends while we celebrate Christmas," said Tony Albelo, the event organizer, in statements to Telemundo 51. He emphasized that the goal is to connect with every neighborhood in Miami.
The park also offers attractions for both children and adults, as well as food stalls and holiday treats, which enhance the overall experience.
Christmas Wonderland will be open until January 5, 2024, during the following hours:
Tuesday to Thursday: 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Fridays and Saturdays: 5:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
Sundays: 3:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Tickets cost $29 for children under 11 years old and $39 for adults.
