A multiple accident that occurred Saturday night on the Palmetto Expressway in Miami involved nearly a dozen cars that sustained material damage.
At the time of writing this note, it is unknown whether the drivers of the involved vehicles suffered serious or significant injuries.
“Crazy accident involving several cars on the Palmetto Southbound. Details about the injuries have not been released at this time. We hope everyone is okay,” stated the news site Only in Dade on Instagram.
The accident occurred on the well-known Miami highway (SR 826), at the exit toward West 49th Street (SR 932), a major commercial artery that runs east to west through the northern part of Miami-Dade County.
Images of the incident showed a significant crowd of people on the road. Accidents of similar magnitude can cause traffic jams on these heavily traveled routes.
In September, an accident on the Palmetto highway resulted in one death and three injuries.
According to the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR), the incident occurred in the Miami Gardens area, on SR 826 eastbound, near Northwest 17th Avenue, when a vehicle crashed into a tree.
Aerial images showed a Honda Accord sedan with side damage and a tarp on the road. Firefighters, Florida Highway Patrol officers, and Miami Gardens Police responded to the scene.
The official information, reported by Local 10, indicated that the driver swerved to avoid several debris, lost control, and crashed into a tree.
The deceased was a passenger in the vehicle behind the driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two other passengers sustained severe injuries and were airlifted to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital with serious injuries.
