The satirical profile Cardin.Ja, known for its clever critiques of the Cuban regime, has stirred up social media once again with a video parodying the alleged statements made by Ana de Armas regarding her relationship with Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
The parody combines irreverent humor, references to Cuban politics, and elements from the Hollywood world.
In the video, the "Ana de Armas" of Cardin.Ja begins with sarcasm: “I came to clear up all the mess I'm involved in, as if I cared.”
Throughout the monologue, he blends fictional confessions about his romance with Anido—whom he refers to as “Manolín”—with veiled criticisms of the Cuban regime: “He was taking his dog for a walk because he says it reminds him of how his stepfather and his mother treat Cubans, as if they were…”.
The parody also pokes fun at Lis Cuesta, the mother of Manuel Anido and wife of Díaz-Canel: “My precious mother-in-law, whom you all know because she is quite controversial regarding the topic of sponges. I call her 'estropaja,' mother-in-law, which means 'mother-in-law' in English, because I know you have no idea.”
The humor doesn't stop there, as the character humorously recounts how his career in Hollywood intersected with his love life: “Imagine that I was at a stage where I was just running machines, from an unknown number to Jennifer López when she started with Ben Affleck (Batman). Because you know I had a little fling with him and ended up causing more damage than the Penguin and the Joker combined.”
"I went to confront him about a Cuban mixer and he wasn't ready for that conversation. Man, I nearly left that guy without his neck; he went blind like Daredevil, the other character he used to play when..." he pointed out.
The satire culminates in a clever nod to the regime and the controversy surrounding the relationship: "Even if it's artificial, I can't pass up the chance to have a father-in-law like this (Díaz-Canel). You are all just envious; don't meddle in what doesn't concern you."
After the Spanish magazine ¡HOLA! confirmed the romance between Ana de Armas and Manuel Anido Cuesta, social media was flooded with memes that criticize and parody the unexpected relationship between the Cuban actress and Díaz-Canel's stepson.
