The mother of Jesús David Corcho Pérez, the 22-year-old who was murdered in Jovellanos, Matanzas, for the theft of his motorcycle, demanded justice for the crime and expressed gratitude for the support received.

Maleybis Pérez Camacho, a dentist by profession, shared an emotional post on her Facebook wall in which she reveals that amidst her immense pain and feelings of powerlessness, she was deeply moved by the solidarity of friends and people she doesn't know, from the town of Jovellanos and even from many Cubans living in other parts of the country and abroad.

"It has been a situation that I personally will not overcome, but I want to thank everyone for their prayers, good wishes, to all those who participated in the search and in social media posts, and to everyone for their affection and beautiful tributes to my son," she expressed.

Maleybis acknowledged the support of her family, neighbors, colleagues, and friends in general, as well as the police, MININT, the Cochlear Implant Group (her son was deaf and mute), and the young man's friends.

"They made my broken heart hold onto hope for a less painful ending. My soul is already dry, my life is already fragmented, but there remains an immeasurable gratitude to all those who offered to help, support, or simply gave me a silent hug or a handshake," he stated.

"My beloved son was a wanted child, deeply cherished by everyone, happy in his very short life, and amidst this immense sorrow, it is the only thing that sustains me," she emphasized.

The devastated mother stated that the support she has received in recent days shows her that, at least in the face of such a reprehensible, disgusting, and unjustified event, Cubans are still family-oriented, affectionate, and supportive.

"And may justice be served so that no mother or father has to endure what we are going through," he demanded.

Last Thursday, the lifeless body of Jesús David Corcho Pérez was found, who had been reported missing since the previous Sunday.

Four days after the urgent alert issued by the family to locate him, a cousin of the young man reported the tragic outcome: he was found dead, and she claimed that he had been murdered, although she did not provide further details.

The incident shocked the town of Jovellanos, where friends, acquaintances, and residents immediately mobilized to search for him, as well as spreading the alert on Facebook profiles and groups.

People who knew him stated that he was a very well-liked young man in the community. His teacher, Alicia María López Hernández, said he was one of her unforgettable students, describing him as a "cheerful, independent young man with a big heart."

Friends and acquaintances believe he may have been murdered for his motorcycle, a purple scooter he was riding at the time of his disappearance; however, this information has not yet been officially confirmed.

It is known that Corcho Pérez left his house on Sunday the 17th around 4:00 PM on his scooter. Since then, no one has heard from him again. As the hours passed without any sign of the young man, desperation grew, and the search intensified with the hope of finding him safe and sound.

The family, distressed, reported the case to the police and also turned to social media to raise awareness about the young man's disappearance and to seek help in finding him.
