The antics of Luis Silva (Pánfilo) always bring laughter, and this time was no exception. The popular character decided to set up a Christmas tree, but he did so with candles and some quite unique wishes.
While talking on the phone with his cousin Mery, Pánfilo was telling her how beautiful the Christmas decoration turned out.
"I need to send you some pictures so you can see it; it turned out really gorgeous, I even put a little bottle of Alprazolam in it. My cousin Mery, Mery Crisma, look how many light bulbs are here. You know you can be quite stubborn. I told you, don’t send me any garlands because I don’t want you to spend money, girl," Pánfilo was saying, although there was another reason behind his decision not to put up the lights.
“No, I didn’t want to connect them, my cousin. I was afraid to connect them and have either the Guiteras or the Mariel go off. You know those thermoelectric plants are very sensitive. You know that any little thing happens, and they start complaining, saying they’re leaving, and they just go,” Pánfilo remarks, alluding to the country's energy crisis.
"Let me show you. I even found one of your notebooks from the store. Listen, it has the M-15 coupon; that was the coupon, remember in '83 when you were undecided about whether to get the bloomers or the tights and you ended up buying a pair of tights? Do you remember? You spent the entire year without bloomers," she adds with laughter.
Surely, those who lived through the 80s in Cuba will remember very well the times that Pánfilo refers to.
