Cuban couple travels across the country by motorcycle and strengthens their love along the way

A Cuban couple has managed to fulfill a dream that many would consider impossible: to travel all of Cuba by motorcycle.

Eliezer González Hernández, an electrical engineer, and his wife Annia Milagros Labrador González, a specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine and Epidemiology, embarked on this exciting journey on November 11 from their hometown of Pinar del Río, recently concluding in the Isle of Youth.

Under the name "Cuba en Moto Inclusiva," this bold project had clear objectives: to promote female empowerment, the use of protective gear while riding motorcycles, and to enjoy domestic tourism by visiting tourist, historical, environmental, and cultural sites, reported Isla Visión on its Facebook profile.

The couple, originally from the westernmost province of Cuba, reflected their passion for travel and adventure in every kilometer they covered.

The journey took them from Pinar del Río to Cape San Antonio, crossing the Zapata Swamp in Matanzas, and continuing south towards eastern Cuba.

Among the visited places, emblematic territories such as Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Santa Clara, Sancti Spíritus, Ciego de Ávila, Camagüey, Santa Cruz del Sur, Santiago de Cuba, Maisí, Baracoa, Guantánamo, and Isla de la Juventud stood out.

At each stop, the couple had the opportunity to interact with locals, learn about the traditions of each region, and share their story, which further strengthened their connection to the country and to each other.

Her arrival on the Isle of Youth, the last stop on her journey through Cuba, was met with great warmth by journalist Noel Otaño, who, according to the couple, supported them as if he had known them all his life.

In an interview given to the television program "Aquí los viernes," broadcasted on Pinera TV, both expressed their gratitude for the hospitality of the Cuban people and recalled how the segment "A Todo Motor" on September 24 was crucial in announcing their journey and receiving support from various parts of the island.

After eight years of marriage, this journey not only fulfilled their dream of traveling across Cuba by motorcycle, but also allowed them to strengthen the love and bond that has kept them together.

Despite the exhausting journey, they affirm that each day on the road was an opportunity to strengthen their relationship and demonstrate that, with passion and dedication, dreams can come true.

It is not the first time that some people decide to travel through different areas of Cuba on motorcycles. In 2021, Alexander Rodríguez, a fan of MZ, took his wife and daughters on a motorcycle trip from Artemisa to Granma, a journey of over 800 kilometers, to visit his relatives.

Rodríguez shared some images of the motorcycle route he took with his family in the Facebook group Club MZ Cuba, where several users highlighted how adventurous these Cuban bikers are.

In 2018, the Russian motorcyclist Oleg Jaritonov, who began a solo journey on his motorcycle across all continents in 2014, prepared to start his tour of Cuba, with which he aimed to honor Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara.

In statements to the agency Prensa Latina, the adventurer revealed that he would depart from Havana, visit the Che Guevara monument in Santa Clara, and conclude his journey in Santiago de Cuba, where he would also go to see the rock that holds Fidel Castro's ashes in the Santa Ifigenia cemetery.
